A sideways planet?

On Uranus, winter lasts twenty-one years and half of Uranus is covered in darkness and summer also lasts twenty-one years and the sun shines all the time. Some of the scientists think that years ago Uranus got hit by something very large and that’s why it spins on its side. Four Earths could fit in Uranus. Uranus is the seventh planet of the solar system and the third largest planet after Jupiter and Saturn. It takes eighty-four years to orbit the sun. Uranus has eleven rings and eighteen moons. Uranus has a core in the middle made of rock and ice. This planet is made up of different kinds of gases and is a huge blue green ball. Uranus looks smooth but it’s not solid so no space craft could land on it.

Earth is the only planet we know of that has life on it. The planets Uranus and Earth are similar and different. The differences are Earth is made up of complex, interactive systems. Uranus is made up of all kinds of gases. Earth is closer to the sun and Uranus is farther away from the sun. Earth is smaller than Uranus and four Earths could fit in Uranus. Uranus has eleven rings and Earth has none. Earth is ninety three million miles away from the sun. Uranus is one thousand seven hundred eighty-four million miles away from the sun.

The similarities are they both have blue and green on them. Rotation of Earth takes twenty-four hours and Uranus takes twenty-three hours. So both are in the twenties. Earth’s blueness is caused by the atmosphere and Uranus’ blue is caused by the atmosphere. Both Uranus and Earth have ice on them.

Uranus could not have life forms on it because it is made of gases we would fall right through it. Uranus has a negative tempter so it’s too cold. If we put water on it, then it would probably freeze. It doesn’t have food or water on it. Uranus doesn’t have any oxygen so we would have to have a oxygen tank on all the time. So we can check that planet of our list!

Uranus' Moon

Uranus has at least eighteen moons. Uranus has about five large moons and thirteen small moons. All of Uranus’ moons are about 1,000 miles wide. Uranus’ small moons are more than 100 miles wide. Uranus’ smallest moon is called Cordelia. Cordelia is only about 16 miles wide. It is also the closest moon. Cordelia orbits Uranus at the distance of 30,914 miles. Uranus’ large moons are called Titana, Orberon, Umbreil, Miranda, and Areil. Uranus’ biggest moons are  all made of rock and even ice, even though Uranus is made of gases. These moons are very, very cold and icy. All five of Uranus’ five biggest moons are dark and gray and they have huge cracks like those caused by earthquakes on Earth. Uranus’ largest moon is called Titana, this moon is 982 miles wide. Moving ice probably created Titana’s huge cracks and huge canyons.
